And even after all the decisions of which options to add on or standard features to remove, we knew that before we even left Texas we would be getting some modifications completed.
There are several Casita Facebook groups which post regularly about a myriad of topics. Reading through all the posts you begin to see which experiences align with your own thoughts and expectations. After two years of trolling half a dozen Facebook groups we made some determinations of what modifications we would want completed before getting our Casita home.
Some may want to tackle these projects themselves. We did not.
While thousands of Casitas have been sold over the years, there are fewer around the further you get from the ‘Casita Mothership’ in Rice Texas. We decided that modifications to our brand new travel trailer would be best done by those with the most experience and we scheduled an appointment at Little Home on the Road (LHOTR) in Haslet, TX (www.littlehomeontheroad.com) for a date after our pickup. We also scheduled our Casita windows to be tinted at All-Pro Window Tinting in Decatur, TX on the following day. Both companies were easy to work with and their experience working on Casitas is evident in the end result.
LHOTR completed the following work for us:
Installed a Katy’s Closet, A/C soft start, Maxx Fan ‘chandelier light’, front scissors jacks, rear hitch receiver, Stromberg Carlson storage rack.
And of course, All-Pro tinted the windows. Apparently they are able to complete this task without needing to remove the screens. Many people have posted on FB that their local window tinting place had a more difficult time (increased price) because they had to first remove screens. I am not familiar with the process or techniques but All Pro did a great job on our Casita.
